At the worldwide day of action of the oppressed, the 1st of May, like in other countries also all over germany Autonomous and Revolutionary 1st of May Demonstrations will take place. This year the 1st of May is part of the mobilization against the G8-summit. At 1st of May different anti-G8-alliances and affinity groups in the different cities are participating at the demonstrations and are organizing more actions of mobilization and information events against the G8-summit.

The tradition of 1st of may as action day emerged after the bloody riots and the repression at 1st of may 1886 in the USA at the Haymarket Square in Chicago. Since these events, also known as "Haymarket Riot", worker unions, workers, and the unemployed comes to the streets against the capitalist circumstances. Also in germany autonomous and revolutionary 1st of May manifestations has been organized until the working class was destroyed by the fascism. In the 60ies, when the worker unions was more integrated in the state as well as political agitation was forbidden and the bosses of the worker unions made compromises with the capitalists and employers, the leftwing movement called for own Blocks in the union manifestations and for own demonstrations. Because of the influence of the Autonomous Movement in the 80ies the revolutionary 1st of may additionally became more orientated towards the concerns of the people in the districts.
